The Benefits of Having a Perfect Eye-Sight
Our eyes tend to get lots of abuse given the lifestyle that most of us have. Staying in front of the computer most of the day, reading in the dark, washing our face while our eyes are still tired-these are only some of the habits that we do that contribute greatly to the deterioration of our eye-sight. Because of easy availability of reading glasses, contact lenses, and eye laser treatments, we tend to take the health of our eyes for granted, thinking that blurred vision is an unavoidable part of life and that all of us will succumb to it as we grow older. Unless you are born with defective eye-sight, you should be able to maintain perfect vision until reach your 40s or 50s.
Wearing glasses or contact lenses has its pros and cons. For those who prefer less hassle, wearing glasses is the way to go. You can just put them on and take them on anytime you wish. You don’t need to worry about making sure the glasses are sterile, which is not the same case if you are using contact lenses. Now if you’re the type who would rather put something on and just take them off at the end of the day, then contact lenses may be for you. You don’t have to deal with having something perched on your nose and you don’t need to worry about losing your glasses somewhere.
The number of young people with vision trouble is steadily increasing, which is a sign that most of them are not so vigilant about taking care of their eye-sight. We should take care of our eye-sight while we’re still young so we can enjoy the benefits of having perfect vision for as long we can. Here are some of them:
- You don’t have to wear unsightly glasses or uncomfortable contact lenses. Let’s face it, most of us balk at the idea of wearing glasses or contact lenses. Not all of us can look good with a pair of glasses. While contact lenses can solve this problem, some of us find them uncomfortable to wear. Also, some experience horrible headaches or dizzy spells when wearing glasses. Some claim that wearing glasses regularly can actually ruin the eye-sight further. Some have taken to wearing glasses for reading purposes only.
- You can drive safely. Most countries require good vision for driving and you won’t be issued a license unless you have it. For those who lack good eye-sight, glasses are required to be able to drive in public. But some find it hard to drive when wearing glasses, claiming that it makes their vision more blurry, or they experience headaches while on the road. It takes a while to adjust to wearing glasses, but some do not have the patience to do it.
- You can read small fonts without any trouble at all. Unless your reading material consists of mainly children’s books, you will have trouble reading paperbacks if you don’t have good eye-sight. Reading glasses are a must for those who have trouble reading small fonts. You will also have trouble reading signs that are several feet away without the help of glasses.
- You won’t have any trouble getting into professions that require perfect eye-sight. Forget getting into the Navy if you don’t have a perfect eye-sight, especially if you want to get into a fighter plane. Even if you managed to get in, you will be relegated to less exciting jobs which do not require perfect vision. Other jobs that require perfect eye-sight include watch and jewelry-making and photography.
